Behind the Blog
Hey there, I'm Taylor, one half of the adventurous duo behind the 'Travelling Ranger’ blog. My partner and I are currently 4WD-ing around Australia in a fully modified Ford Ranger, chasing unforgettable moments and sharing our experiences along the way.
Before starting this incredible journey in 2022, I worked in the IT and Cyber Security industry while also freelancing as my side hustle.
It took some time to adjust to life on the road, but we're now seasoned full-time travellers eager to share our top locations and itineraries. We’ve already ticked off some of Australia's most breathtaking locations, including hiking in Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, swimming with sea lions and dolphins in the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia, and even spotting Orca whales off the coast of Bremer Bay in Western Australia.
These moments have been some of the most unforgettable of our trip, and we can't wait to see what other adventures await us on our journey in 2023.
We launched our blog, 'Travelling Ranger', to share our experiences and recommendations with fellow travellers. We're passionate about the outdoors, and we can't wait to continue our journey around Australia, exploring new destinations, taking on challenging adventures, and sharing our insights and experiences with everyone through our blog.
Finding Your Own Adventure
While on the road, I've read many itineraries and destination guides, but most seem to cater to parents with kids or very fit couples - neither of which we are.
We've learned that a Lap of Australia looks different for everyone, depending on your home on wheels, interests (and fitness level), time, and budget. The most important thing we've discovered is that you have to take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt. The places with the worst WikiCamp reviews often turn out to be hidden paradises, while the places we've been told to see can be the opposite. It's all part of the adventure, and we encourage you to see these places for yourself and make your own decisions. Join us on our journey and discover the beauty of Australia in your own unique way!
Our Rig
With our fully fitted tray and canopy on our 2017 Ford Ranger, we're able to venture off the beaten path and live off-grid for up to 9 days at a time - that’s usually when our water supply runs out! Here's a quick rundown of the must-haves and nice-to-haves that make our on-the-road living a lot more comfortable.
First up, the must-haves that keep us going:
The Bush Company AX27™ Rooftop Tent
The Bush Company 270 XT MAX™ Awning
85L Bushman Upright Fridge

270 Watt Solar Panel
